Experimental Typography 2008

This was a rather self explanatory unit in which I explored alternative ways of using type to convey a message, a lot of the research was fundamentally inspire by the teachings of Emil Ruder’s techniques of Typography. my final resolution was derived from my typographical experiments and a subject area I identified which at the time was aimed at my opinions on the minimum wage of the UK, to which I created a piece in which I drew the typeface used on standard cheque book integers, to create a repeating pattern, of which I represent the statistics of the average working mans salary broken down from annual, to monthly, weekly, then hourly, this was offset above the average UK house price at the time so it would show the assumption that theoretically it takes 10 years for a man or woman to pay for their home (of course in reality it is much longer 😦 )
